Ghana Youth Manifesto Coalition Engages NYA CEO on Youth Development

The leadership of the Ghana Youth Manifesto Coalition has engaged the Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA) to present the Ghana Youth Manifesto and explore collaborative efforts to enhance youth development and empowerment in the country.

The manifesto, which captures key concerns and aspirations of young Ghanaians across sectors such as education, employment, and civic participation, was developed through extensive consultations with youth nationwide.

In response, the NYA CEO Mr. Osman Abdulai Ayariga acknowledged the importance of the manifesto and reiterated the Authority’s commitment to working with youth-led organizations to address the pressing challenges facing young people in Ghana. He emphasized the need for a united front in tackling youth-related issues and assured the Coalition of the NYA’s readiness to collaborate on meaningful initiatives that serve the supreme interest of the Ghanaian youth.

He commended the Coalition for its dedication and noted that the NYA, through the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, would incorporate the voices of young people into the ongoing constitutional review process. He stressed that youth-based organizations like the Ghana Youth Manifesto Coalition would play a key role in shaping policy suggestions and ideas that reflect the realities and aspirations of young people across the country.

Furthermore, the CEO reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the long-awaited Ghana Youth Federation is finally launched. He acknowledged that although the Federation is captured in the NYA Act, successive administrations have failed to bring it to fruition. Under his leadership, he assured, the NYA would take concrete steps to operationalize the Federation, providing a structured and unified platform for youth engagement and advocacy.

The meeting ended with both parties expressing optimism about future collaborations to create more opportunities for young people in Ghana.
