National Youth Authorty holds stakeholder consultative meeting on National Youth Volunteer Program (NYVP)
On Wednesday, February 23, 2022 the National Youth Authority held a one-day consultative engagement with various key stakeholders and youth groups to deliberate on the implementation of the National Youth Volunteers Programme (NYVP) which is scheduled to be launched later in the year.
Opening the meeting and welcoming participants at the Mensvic Hotel in Accra, CEO of the Authority, Hon Pius E. Hadzide touched on the operationalization of the impending flagship program. He said, 100000 Ghanaian youth between the ages of 18 and 35 will be recruited and deployed for the program in the short to medium term. He also stated that the program is going to foster patriotism, selflessness, team spirit and nationalism amongst Ghanaian youth.
“I am confident that the deliberation and resolution that will emerge from this forum will help make this program a raving success and provide a model for the other Sub-Saharan countries to emulate to ensure that we are able to realise the objects of the AU agenda 2063, the Africa we want” Hon. Pius Enam Hadzide stated.
The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif who graced the occasion with his presence commended the leadership and staff of the Authority for the noble initiative and applauded them for their hard work and particularly for realizing young people as the major driving force in our developmental efforts. He pledged his Ministry’s continual readiness to support and work with the Authority to execute its mandate in ensuring the comprehensive development of the Ghanaian youth.
Deputy CEO in charge of Programs and Operations at the Authority, Mr. Nelson Owusu Ansah in making a presentation on the entire program shed more light on the context, governance structure, modules, implementation plan, exit strategy, monitoring and evaluation and the entire apparatus that will support the Program.
Present at the event was Mrs. Akosua Asaa Manu, Deputy CEO for Finance and Administration and some directors, unit heads and staff of the Authority.
