Utilize social media to fight reproductive health issues – NYA DCEO

Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Programs and Operations of the National Youth Authority, Mr. Nelson Owusu Ansah has admonished young people in Ghana to utilise social media in addressing Sexual Reproductive Health challenges.

According to him, Sexual Reproductive Health issues are on the rise among Ghanaian youth; and opined the use of social media to help create awareness and provide accurate and relevant information for the youth to make informed decisions.

The DCEO made this call on Thursday March 7,2024 at Koforidua during the Opening of a 3 day orientation workshop for young social media influencers on a project dubbed: Youth Reproductive Education through Awareness, Communication and Health promotion (Y-Reach).

The Y-Reach project is an initiative by the National Youth Authority, with support from UNESCO to engage young people online with Sexual and  Reproductive Health Rights messages by recruiting and training young influencers to utilize existing social media tools and technology.

He commended participants who have worked hard to build their social media images and followings and encouraged them to give back to society by using same platforms in getting some social issues addressed
