Nya Set To Train 2,000 Volunteers In The Quest To Combat Covid-19 Pandemic.
The CEO and the management of the National Youth Authority (NYA) has revealed plans to recruit and train about two thousand (2000) young volunteers to augment government relentless effort to fight the infamous novel COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, the NYA will train thousands of unemployed youth with entrepreneurial skills in pursuance to tackle issues in regards to job loses as a result of the ongoing pandemic.
Addressing the media section at the Ministry of Information on Thursday, April 16th, 2020, the CEO Sylvester Tetteh stressed that about 2000 young people across the country will be trained to enlighten the citizenry as well as give assistance to Frontline workers as the state intensify its zeal to curb the pandemic.
“Over 500 megaphones with recorded messages that will be approved by the Ministry of Information will be given to some of the youth to educate Ghanaians, not only in the cities but also in the villages and rural communities. Also, the youth with health background will provide the needed support for frontline workers in the area of contact tracing and others”, he added.
Mr. Tetteh took turn to address some pragmatic measures that will be deployed to curb economic hardships, precisely job loses, coupled with the pandemic and further urge the Ghanaian youth to be optimistic since the NYA has the blueprint initiatives to cushion them as far as their welfare and wellbeing are concerned.
“The youth are the worse affecte d by the pandemic and as part of measures to support them, baseline studies into job loses and health related issues are being carried out by the authority. This will help us with the support of government, design and implementation entrepreneurial programs that would drastically deal with the issues of COVID-19 related job loses”, he reiterated.
Undoubtedly, the Authority stands poised to contribute it's quota in the fight against the pandemic considering a recent media and campaign launch towards that end coupled with a donation of PPEs valued at GHc 700,000.00 to the Ministry of Health.
