This year's IYD highlights the role young people can play to transform food systems for human and planetary health through innovation. The regional office of National Youth Authority in Ashanti Region undertook a launch of an agricultural training and demonstration centre, an integrated agricultural training hub in the Juaben Municipality. The project, with the blessings of the Juaben Municipal Assembly (the MCE) and traditional authorities, is being implemented in collaboration with the African Youth Employment Initiative (AYEI) at the Nobewam community.

The Center, which is an integrated agricultural training hub, houses crop production (pineapple and vegetables) animal rearing (piggery, cattle, turkey) and fish farming with large tract of land to go into other agricultural products. The Centre is to offer hands on training to young people in modern approach to agriculture and agribusiness and establish clear channels in the agriculture value chain. It also aims to offer exit support to the beneficiary youth farmers  to facilitate and bolster their agribusiness ventures. This project is a manifestation of what the synergy among state institutions, community leaders and citizens can do. It is our fervent hope that the centre will grow and produce several youth farmers to aid in promoting and ensuring food security in Ghana.
