NYA Climax National Youth Month with “Red Means Stop” Campaign

The National Youth Authority (NYA) has climaxed this year’s National Youth Month celebration with its “Red Means Stop” campaign at the Independence Square in Accra.

The campaign seeks to raise awareness among young people about the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse while promoting responsible choices and healthy lifestyles for a safer and more productive society.

Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Osman Abdulai Ayariga Esq., rallied Ghana’s youth to reject drug and substance abuse as the Authority intensified its “Red Means Stop” campaign.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ayariga stressed the need for sustained education, advocacy and meaningful engagement with young people in the fight against substance abuse.

He said the NYA would continue to leverage platforms and activities that attract and connect with the youth to promote healthy, responsible and productive lifestyles.

Mr. Ayariga further urged young people to resist peer pressure and stay away from drugs and other harmful substances that could negatively impact their health, education, relationships and future prospects.

The event featured a variety of entertainment and youth-focused activities, including music, dance, comedy, skating and biking shows and other engaging activities, all designed to connect with young people while amplifying the campaign’s core message: “Red Means Stop.”

Present at the event were the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare Addo, and the Deputy Director-General in charge of Enforcement, Control and Elimination, Mr. Alexander Twum-Barimah.

The celebration also featured performances and appearances by bikers from BikeLife and A1 Bikers, as well as the Ambassador for the “Red Means Stop” campaign, Medikal. Other artistes and entertainers who thrilled patrons included MzVee, Sefa, Funny Face and Showboy.

The NYA reaffirmed its commitment to working with young people and relevant stakeholders to intensify efforts against substance abuse and empower the youth to make informed choices that contribute to a healthier and more responsible Ghana
