NYA CEO PAYS WORKING VISIT TO THE UNDP, GHANA OFFICES

The CEO, of National Youth Authority (NYA) , Mr. Sylvester Tetteh, on Wednesday, February 26th, 2020 paid a working visit to the UNDP offices, on Ring Road East Accra, to discuss, strengthen ties and also prospect new possible opportunities for this two organizations to leverage on.

The CEO was met on arrival by the Ag. Resident Representative of the UNDP, Ms. Gita Welch and her Deputy, Ms. Silke Hollander.

In their welcome address, the leaders could not hide their joy and profound gratitude to each other's relentless and selfless efforts at supporting initiatives and programmes in the interest of the Ghanaian youth.

The UNDP Ag. Residence Rep. commended the visit , the government of Ghana for good policies, vision and astute advocacy programmes channelled towards the betterment of the young people of Ghana.

"There is no doubt in anyone's mind that, in this day and age, the future is for the youth. If not any other reason, for the reason that Africa is the youngest continent of this whole planet; It is a continent where the youth are the majority of the population, which does not happen often at other places", she uttered.

Mr. Tetteh, on the other hand, was grateful and honoured to fulfill the visit, and quickly mentioned, that the UNDP being a strategic partner for the National Youth Authority has undertaken a very important events like the YouthConnekt Africa Conference in Rwanda, a laudable initiative which has been in existence for the past couple of years, and applauded UNDP's support for its successful launch in Ghana last year.

Additionally, the NYA CEO also revealed the readiness of YouthConnekt Ghana to host the rest of Africa in the next YouthConnekt conference in Ghana later on this year. "Infact, UNDP has been very helpful as we launched and successfully had a Youth Denomination Challenge , where we saw 16 young people benefiting financially to invest in their businesses, and it would interest you to know that they are doing very well and we expect to continue with this collaboration ", he reiterated.

The Rawlings's CEO concluded by stressing on the President of the land's keen interest in championing youth development in terms of capacity building and exposure. Again, he stated that he is utterly hopeful this partnership will go a long way to propel young people of Ghana and Africa onto greater heights and lengths.

The Deputy Resident Representative, Ms. Silke Hollande also took her turn to thank the CEO for the visit and about how exciting and fruitful the meeting had been.

She further noted how thrilled UNDP is, as an agency to be collaborating with the NYA in discharging it's mandatory obligations especially in launching YouthConnekt Ghana and the celebration of the International Youth Day. She urged all to check out what the YouthConnekt concept is all about since there is something in there for everybody to tap into.

Finally, she encouraged everyone to help push the initiative to it's apexu plateau.
