CEO of NYA Four Day working visit to Youth Resource Centers.

The CEO of the National Youth Authority Pius Enam Hadzide has said work on five (5) of the Youth Resource Centers has resumed in earnest and would hopefully complete by the end of this year. He added that work on Phase II of the remaining five which has been suspended will also resume soon now that the works audit on the phase I has been completed.

The CEO made these revelations in Dunkwa-On-Offin as he inspected the progress of work at the Youth Resource Center there and also held a site meeting with the Project Consultants Ugah Services Ltd and the project Contractor Sontim Co Ltd.

The CEO explained that there has been a massive change in the scope of work since the conception of the projects and said that that partly explains the seeming delay in the completion of these projects. “These projects are now four stands instead of the initial one, in some cases like in Axim there are now hostel facilities, there are ICT and Counseling Centers, etc.” he said adding that these projects were more than just sporting stadia.

The CEO said he was acting on the instructions of the Hon Minister and the Governing Board of the NYA to ensure that works on these projects were completed and the facilities put to use before the end of the year. “The Board and the Minister are keen on these projects and would be visiting the sites soon, I therefore had to come to abreast myself with the progress of work and resolve any challenges that our contractors may be facing way ahead. So view my visit as preparatory he said to the contractors.

The contract for the construction of Phase II was signed in October 2020 and the objective of the project was to provide the necessary facilities for youth development and training and to acquire the requisite skills in diverse sporting disciplines to benefit the youth and society.

The Chief Executive Officer together with the Head of Procurement at the NYA and the Director of Administration are on a four day tour to some of the ongoing projects of the NYA. The tour took the team to Axim in the Western region and Dunkwa-On-Offin. The team would be in Dormaa on Wednesday.

The CEO has used the opportunity to also visit Regional and District offices of the NYA to interact with management and staff.
