AfCFTA to create 30 million jobs in 2030 – Akosua Manu
Deputy CEO responsible for Finance and Administration at NYA, Akosua Manu has divulged that the creation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) would generate about 30 million jobs for the country in 2030.
She lauded the initiative as pivotal means to curb the menace of unemployment in Ghana, emphasising government’s acknowledgement of the country’s youth force as significant to national development.
The DCEO was speaking at the “African Youth in Continental Production, Value-addition and Trade on the African Prosperity Dialogue”, an event organised by the Authority, in partnership with the AfCFTA Secretariat at the Peduase Presidential Lodge in Eastern Region.
According to her, the country has experienced a vast improvement in several areas sectors, including the digital economy, creative cultural economy and agro-economy as a result of youth participation in economic activities.
Also, within 2016 to 2023 Africa generated more than 5.4 million dollars as startup values with the assistance of the youth, further proving their contribution to and achievements in the country.
On his part, CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Yofi Grant advised that government invests its resources into nurturing and developing youth capacities in order to foster continuous development in the country.
In the same vein, CEO of Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs (GCYE), Sherif Ghali encouraged the youth to build partnerships among themselves, forming a wide range of beneficial networks for the benefit of both themselves and the nation.
