 Miss Dorothy Onny,

Tribute in Honour of Ms Dorothy Onny By National Youth Authority Board, 2021

The Members of NYA Board, came into contact with Miss. Dorothy Onny, when she was appointed as an organizational representative of the Ministry of Local Government in 2018. In no time, her impeccable display of understanding of issues culminated in her noticeable popularity amongst members of the Board.

Her dedicated service to her God and country was exemplary. She portrayed so truly and faithfully the characteristics of a good public servant. Her self-denying devotion to duty through her active participation in Board room discourse and decision making was persuasive and worth emulating.

Her perspectives on issues under discussion were always laced with practical experiences anchored on relevant legislation. Her inclined advocacy for women empowerment, particularly young girls was evident in her support on issues and decisions pertaining to their empowerment.

Though as a Board, our practical knowledge of Miss. Onny was at the instance of the Board and restricted to the Board’s activities, it came out convincingly that she was very instrumental at her representing agency (Ministry of Local Government). Majority of the Board members came to this conviction because of her busy schedules that mostly coincided with NYA Board meetings, nonetheless she made extra efforts to attend to her obligations as a member, sometimes with a stark tiredness and exhaustions.

It is unfortunate that she has been called by her maker this early before her retirement, which in no doubt was going to be fulfilling and a memorable occasion. But God knows best. Our fond memories of Miss. Dorothy Onny will linger on forever, and we will cherish our association with her. May God grant her lasting peace and comfort after her long and tireless service to her country.

Amen!
