Africa Youth Day

Friday November 1st is Africa Youth Day. A day set aside by the Africa Union Commission (AU) to shed light on the important contributions made by young persons to the development of their local communities and their respective nations.

For this year’s {2019} commemoration, which is under the theme “Ghana Beyond Aid: The Youth Factor” The National Youth Authority {NYA} under the distinguished Patronage of H.E the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has outlined a series  of activities and Programmes to mark the day.


Scheduled for Saturday, 26th October 2019, and with a focus to promote healthy living amongst the youth. There will be a national health walk dubbed “Youth Stay Healthy” through some principal streets of Accra.

There will also be Regional Health Walks in all 16 regions of Ghana.


The National Youth Authority in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat is scheduled to convene a regional senior officials meeting for the Africa Region from 29th October – 31st October 2019.

The Meeting aims for representatives from Commonwealth member states on the continent and other key youth development stakeholders to examine and prioritize policy issues that are relevant to the African youth development agenda.


On Friday, 1st November 2019, as part of commemorating Africa Youth Day, there will be an address on the State of the Ghanaian Youth on the floor of the National Youth Parliament by H.E The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. This will be followed by a lecture on the local rendition of the theme, “Ghana Beyond Aid: The Youth Factor”.
